Convention Season is wrapping up...

Tue Nov 17, 2009, 6:54 PM
This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Kevin and I will be in some of y'all's backyard at AnimeUSA in Crystal City, Virginia. I hope I to meet some of you!

In other cool news:
I got INTERVIEWED at Big Apple Comic Con by U Frag TV. Starting at minute 25, I'm on right after Lou Ferrigno. Damn, son! (I would have embedded it, but it auto-plays. Yuck.)

If I sound a little quavery and like I'm the daughter of the old MicroMachines guy it's cause they were doing the interview LIVE and I was told that I might get bumped at any moment for William Shatner. *nervous nerd-gasm*

Here goes the PHOTO-DUMP from Big Apple Comic Con 2009:

Me an' Kevin at the booth. Makin' the magic happen.

Kevin fought the severed head of Jack Black on the 25th floor of the MTV building, Nickelodeon Studios, Times Square! It was EPIC, as was the tour around the Nick offices. Kevin's been doing free-lance work for Nick for half a year now. He draws the Go Diego Go comics for Nick magazine and for the European market. Since we were in NYC, we got invited to come check out the offices... and battle the HEAD.

Of course, Noggin is a Nick Jr. thing, but it was on the tour. The sign is made entirely of buttons and irradiates anyone within 7 feet of it, imbuing them with phenomenal psychic powers. As proven by this photo. That's Kevin's editor, Kevin, and our host, Skeletor/Mike.

Kevin and I got to pose with the large stuffed ducky that was used as a prop in a staggering number of Nickelodeon Magazine covers. Whenever there was a pile of plushies or pillows, look for The Duck.

25 floors up! TIMES SQUARE!! (See if you can find the 25 foot clan ninjas!)

Kevin did a bunch of commissions, but this one was my favorite. The gentleman had a themed sketch book with loads of supergals looking mean and determined and GRRR! Kevin pushed the pendulum in the other direction. Just for balance. ;)

LOOKIT! A completed set of TURTLE-TOTS. I loves them. Kevin promised that we're keeping the originals, but we will have a print of the four of them for sale.

We stayed with ultra-cool guy, Mike Mongello. He drew me this rockin' turtle. You should check out his art blog.

Separate from all that, :iconkevinbolk: has got an ART SHOW!
He's got a huge gallery at the Greenbelt Arts Center. He did the logo, program, poster, and postcard design for their production of "Little Shop of Horrors. We saw it on opening weekend; it rocked. Hard. (We know the plant. Go Fred, Go!). If you're local, you've got until Thanksgiving weekend to see the play. The plant puppeteering rocks, Seymour fills out the role perfectly, and I loved the guy they had playing Mr. Mushnik.

Kevin's art will hang in the lobby of the theater through the end of their December play The Devil's Christmas Carol". You've got plenty of time to check out some original art, or any number of framed prints.

Yeah, we will have to set aside some time for ink chat and what not. I need to get a new sketch pad, too.
:iconkya-kyabetsu:
Agreed. This weekend's pretty booked, but ...Actually loads of the weekends are pretty booked, but I'm generally available during the week on Tues, Thurs, or Fri. Drop me a date/time and I'll be sure to be on aim or in whatever chat+art space you can dig up. :)
